Richard Manley and Erik deBoer formed their long-lived partnership in 1980 beginning with Manley-deBoer General Contractors, which operated in the Lower Keys for 17 years. In 1987 their experience in converting deteriorated historic buildings into small hotels and guesthouses led directly to their acquisition and development of the Marquesa Hotel on Fleming St. in Key West, which they have operated continuously for the past 30 years. In 1997, Manley and deBoer acquired the Strunk Lumber Yard and formed Manley deBoer Lumber Company. Today, Manley deBoer Lumber Company has two lumberyard locations in Key West and Big Pine Key.
